Welcome back to Scintillating Sunday, hosted by the Mile High Muses! Today I have an excerpt from my new BDSM romance Cherished.
Serena and Ethan are newly acquainted, but they have mutual friends. He escorted her home safely the night before and they both fell asleep watching a movie. They're sharing breakfast the next morning and getting to know each other a little better. Serena's just discovered that Ethan takes his exercise regimen pretty seriously, he's asked her to join him running.
“Hailey said you’re a dancer. Don’t you exercise outside of that?” Ethan asked.
“Sure, sometimes,” Serena said with a shrug.
Which really meant, no, she didn’t. He wasn’t an idiot. “Running’s good for you.”
It looked like she fought to keep the smile from her face. It didn’t work. “Okay, whatever you say,” she said with a smirk.
Was she laughing at him? The thought should infuriate him. He didn’t like people laughing at him, or take too kindly to patronizing tones. But coming from her, it just seemed—sweet. It didn’t mean he still didn’t want to spank her ass, but more in a fun way where they both came at the end. “Watch yourself, baby girl.”
“Oh, is big, bad daddy getting angry?” she mocked as she rose from her chair. Her plate was empty, when the hell had she finished her eggs?
“You’ll know when daddy’s angry, you won’t have to ask.”
She blushed crimson from her neck to the tips of her ears and hustled out into the kitchen.
Serena's landed herself the perfect man. He's wealthy, powerful, and an unrelenting Dom. Everything a smart girl with a penchant for kink could want. But a year into their relationship and she's doubting what they really have together. When she confronts him, she's devastated to discover she had the wrong idea from the beginning.
Ethan is back in town to help out his friend manage his BDSM club. The short respite from his life across the country is just the break he needed. But when his troubles end up following him, things become even more complicated than before.
When Serena and Ethan meet, it isn't perfect timing. Serena finds it hard to trust again, but then Ethan shows her what it's like to be cherished. Can they let go of their baggage long enough to find real happiness? Or will their complicated past relationships catch up with them?
